Mutu ("Mutu", "we", "us") is an invite-only community app for members of the University of Toronto and Rotman network. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Mutu, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to run the community. This includes:

We do not collect your precise location, camera, microphone, contacts, or health data, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. How Your Information Is Shared

Your profile and the content you post are visible to other approved members of the Mutu community, consistent with the app's purpose of connecting members. Beyond that, we share data only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf:

These providers process data under their own terms and only to provide services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our members and the service.

4. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or applicable Canadian privacy legislation. We honor these requests in accordance with the law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you where required if a breach occurs.

7. Children's Privacy

Mutu is intended for members of a university and professional network and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. International Users

Mutu is operated from Canada, and your information may be processed in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate. By using Mutu, you consent to this transfer.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
